Renaming of the Bass River Bridge is moving forward. See article in Cape Cod Times. Naming of the bridge for all members who gave their lives in the War on Terror over Route 134 and Route 6 is in the Legislature, thanks to Rep. Cleon Turner and Sen. Robert O’Leary.
The Post is continuing to collect unserviceable US Flags at 14 locations, we have thousands.
 Post is assisting the Marine Corps League to help bring the Silent Drill Team and Band to D-Y High School June 30th.
We were at Otis AFB this week, women in the reserves are opening a pantry on Otis (http://maotispantry.org/ ) for Veterans and deployed troops we gave them $300 and are having a "Food Fest" July 22nd at O'SHEA'S OLDE INN. Our singers will perform. Bring all non-perishable goods to the Claddagh Inn, they are the drop off point now.
Remembrance Flags to be delivered soon to the post, we have ordered one for every family at no cost. 1St Vice Mike Mahoney working with Gold Star Families to promote the Honor and Remember Flag in Ma.
The Yarmouth Park at Packets landing on the Bass River is almost finished The memorial boulder is in place, and the Post has a 30th flagpole donated by Cape Cod Fence Co. Amvets Memorial Garden Honoring all who fell in the Iraq/Afghanistan War will be ready for blessing soon.
May 31st is Dennis Memorial Day Parade in East Dennis. All members wishing to march with the Post please report by 9:15 Am it will step off at 9:30 from Hokum Rock Rd and proceed down Rte134,cross Rte 6A, pass by the WWI war memorial at Bridge and Rte 6A, and stop in front of the Marshside Restaurant on Bridge St.
A work party from Post 333 cleaned and gutted the MMR Red Cross Trailer to be dedicated at Camp Edwards May 25th This project is a service to our Armed Forces. This trailer will be located next to billeting on Camp Edwards. The trailer will be equipped with computers, phones,etc. for all our troops to use. Thanks to many donors who supplied the equipment ,the Red Cross will be looking for people living close to base to man the trailer once it is up and running.
The collation for Veterans Service Officer Sid Chase at the VFW post Hyannis was great, Veterans Groups will share the cost of the event.
Last call for anyone wishing to be nominated for Post offices, you must be present at the meeting. Pease Greeters of Maine give troops deploying to & returning from the war zone a white star from cloth flags we collected from our Flag Retirement Boxes, that the Scouts cut out. In one 24 hour period, they gave out 1, 100 stars as well as snacks and a hand shake for their service, well done Harry Watling.
Young Marines would like to do some volunteer work on Merrill Park. Spring clean-up and planting was announced at the May meeting. The Eagle Scout Award Ceremony for Sean Michael Mahoney should have been better attended by post members.
Cape Cod Care For The Troops hosts its annual Troops In The Spotlight, Sunday May 30th 11:30 to Monday May 31st 11:30, K-Mart Plaza Hyannis.

Post requested items from Staples to donate to Caretakers Of Veterans Graves, Town of Dennis. The date to place flags on our Heroes graves is May 22nd , all welcome.
Post has received the official name change adding Cpl. Nicholas G. Xiarhos to Post name, Commander Connell will announce the date of the ceremony at the Claddagh Inn changing the name to Baker-Xiarhos Post.      
Post will be collecting donations at Post Offices in June.
Funds must be raised for the new Amvets Memorial Garden in Packets Landing Park ( Bolder, Bronze Plaque, Flag Pole & Garden). Remember our newsletter and events are always on the web site.
